Small space heaters

A small space heater with big comfort

Quick answer

Small space heaters are perfect when you only need warmth where you are. RapidHeat goes a step further: it doesn't even take up floor space.

How to choose a small space heater

  • Match it to your room size
  • Pick ceramic for fast, even heat
  • Check the safety features
  • Consider noise if it's for a bedroom
  • Look at wattage to keep running costs down

Why a small heater is often the smarter choice

If you spend most of your evening in one room, heating the whole house is money spent warming empty rooms. A small space heater lets you turn the main heating down and keep just your room comfortable.

Small heaters also warm up a compact room faster, because there's less air to heat. RapidHeat's ceramic plates heat within seconds and the fan spreads that warmth so you feel it within minutes.

What 'small' should really mean

Small should mean small in size and small in running cost, not small in safety. Look for a heater that takes up little room, uses modest wattage and still has proper safety features: overheat protection, automatic shut-off and a thermostat.

RapidHeat checks all three. It plugs straight into the wall, so it uses no floor space at all, and runs at 400W or 800W.

Small space heater buying checklist

  • Room size: one RapidHeat suits up to about 250 sq ft (≈23 m²)
  • Heating type: ceramic warms quickly and evenly
  • Controls: thermostat, timer and a remote are worth having
  • Noise: around 45 dB is quiet enough for sleep and calls
  • Safety: overheat protection and auto shut-off as standard
  • Guarantee: buy where you can return it if it isn't right

How many small heaters do you need?

For a typical bedroom or office, one is enough. For a larger lounge, an open-plan area or a draughty older room, two units placed on different walls heat more evenly than one heater on full power. That's why our 2-pack is the most popular choice.

Why RapidHeat fits

  • Plugs straight into a wall outlet, so there's nothing to install
  • Ceramic heating with 400W and 800W modes
  • Digital thermostat, remote control and timer
  • Quiet at around 45 dB
  • Overheat protection and automatic shut-off
  • Suits rooms up to about 250 sq ft (≈23 m²)

What it costs to run

Maximum cost at full power, for common electricity prices per kWh in your own currency. With the thermostat cycling off once the room is warm, real costs are often lower. Try the energy cost calculator with your exact price.

Who RapidHeat is not for

We'd rather you buy the right heater than return the wrong one. RapidHeat isn't the best choice for:

  • Heating a whole house or open-plan floor on its own
  • Large rooms over about 250 sq ft (≈23 m²) with just one unit (use two or more)
  • Bathrooms or anywhere it could get splashed with water
  • People who want silent, fan-free heat (try an oil-filled radiator)

Common questions

What size room will one RapidHeat heat?

One unit suits rooms up to about 250 sq ft (≈23 m²), such as a bedroom, home office or small living area. For bigger or draughty rooms, use two or more units in different parts of the room.

How much does RapidHeat cost to run?

At full power RapidHeat uses 0.4 kWh per hour on Low (400W) or 0.8 kWh per hour on High (800W). Multiply that by your electricity price per kWh. At 0.25 per kWh that's 0.10 per hour on Low and 0.20 per hour on High. The thermostat cycles it off once the room is warm, so real use is often lower.

Is it noisy?

RapidHeat runs at around 45 dB, which is roughly as loud as a quiet library or a soft hum. Most people can sleep or take calls next to it.

Is RapidHeat safe?

It has overheat protection, automatic shut-off and a thermostat. As with any heater, plug it directly into a wall outlet, keep about 1 m (3 ft) clear around it, never cover it and keep it away from water.

Is a small space heater enough for a living room?

For a small living room, yes. For a larger or open-plan living room, use two or more units placed in different spots.
